# Why I Built Caremax.ai I developed this tool when my wife became pregnant. Faced with mountains of prenatal checkup reports every week, I wanted an AI solution that could digest these reports and transform them into digital metrics for monitoring. Initially, I created a simple tool using traditional OCR models combined with LLM semantic parsing for our personal use. After my wife successfully delivered our baby, I realized many expectant families share this need. So I upgraded the tool into a publicly accessible platform to help others. Beyond pregnancy monitoring, Caremax.ai helps track annual physical examination reports and allows patients who require regular follow-ups to conveniently monitor their health metrics over time. The product features optimized OCR recognition accuracy and speed through a concurrent approach with multiple underlying models processing simultaneously. This significantly improves performance, while still allowing manual verification of parsed results. Additionally, we've implemented Embedding technology to associate related indicators, ensuring different expressions of the same metric are categorized together for easier monitoring. What makes me most proud is creating a tool that can effectively digitize medical paper reports and meet the needs of so many families wanting to track their health indicators' trends over time.
