👋 Hey Product Hunt! I’m Thomas, one of the makers behind CapCam—an iOS app that turns your iPhone / iPad into a pro-grade LiDAR scanner. After months of field-testing with architects, product designers, and 3D artists, we’re excited (and a little nervous!) to share it with you. Why we built CapCam? 3D capture today is either slow (photogrammetry) or locked into pricey hardware. We wanted a one-tap tool that: Captures rooms, objects, or whole environments in seconds Lets you edit on-device—crop, measure, annotate—in real time Exports to every major format (USDZ, GLB, FBX, STL, OBJ, PLY) so the files drop straight into Blender, Unreal, or Unity What makes it different? Centimeter-level LiDAR accuracy—no cloud wait-times, the mesh appears as you scan Streamlined UI—scan ➜ tweak ➜ export, all from a single screen AR preview & on-device measurements—walk inside your model before you ever leave the site Community hub—share scans, swap tips, and collaborate via our r/CapCam subreddit How you can help? Kick the tires—download, scan something weird, and push the limits. Tell us what’s missing—confusing workflow? missing export option? we’re all ears. Show your work! Drop a screenshot or model link in the comments—we love seeing what people create. What’s next We’re experimenting with: RoomPlan fusion for instant floor-plan PDFs Higher-fidelity textures via local photogrammetry Realtime shared scanning so teams can capture large spaces together Thanks for checking out CapCam. We’ll be here all day—ask us anything, request features, or just say hi. Your feedback will shape the roadmap! — Thomas & the CapCam crew 🚀
