Camperguru saves time looking for the best spots. We work with photographers and experienced campers to find the 'creme de la creme' of camping. We personally visit, photograph and review camper spots. We don't list all spots. Just the best ones. 46 for now.

What do you think? …

Scott N Decker
Here is my concern anytime I see a product like this: it shines a spot on our best/potentially-most-fragile, they become much more well-known, and within a matter of months or a few years, they're shadows of what they used to be. The best spots are the best spots because they're hidden treasures, passed around by word of mouth, only just sustaining the few folks who find them. Look at all the amazing places ruined by IG. My encouragement would be to take this into account, maybe rotate spots thru your list, give spots "time off", ask people to donate to the preservation of popular camping spots, partner with local Boy Scout troops (or the European equivalent) to help clean up camp sites, etc.

@scott_n_decker That's a valid concern Scott. And my plan is to rotate the spots, or simply put there a wall (let's say you need to be registered or premium member) to see some spots that can't handle volume. And also I would like to be partner for the spots, telling them what might help in cases where they can't handle the inflow of interest. I believe that the only sustainable way is to kind of regulate the space. Either by shining light on some, or by giving them time off when needed. Or by adding more spaces to the mix, or allowing spot makers to come up with more spots in selected areas.

@scott_n_decker Hello Scott! Thank You for Your feedback, We appreciate it a lot.
We share those concerns and as We are active campers ourselves, We saw nice places trashed - too many times. However, with Camperguru, We focus only on legal camping spots (both commercial and non-commercial). In addition to this We want to work on improving camping ethics - have a look at https://camperguru.com/about-us/
Camping is becoming more and more popular, so We don’t think any spot can stay “hidden” in this connected world. We would rather focus on promoting responsible camping and overnighting on legal spots. Again, thanks a lot for feedback and for suggestions how to improve, Vita is already taking notes :)

I know @vita_valka (Camperguru’s founder) for many years as an outstanding professional designer, but also as a highly-skilled networker, team player, and entrepreneur with a great reputation among freelancers and the ecommerce industry. Though when it comes to camping vans and the digital nomad lifestyle, he’s an outright influencer and a niche celebrity! If you are interested in any of these topics, follow this project closely — it will undoubtedly enrich the already booming van traveling in Europe.

Loving it - already using it and the spots are top notch.

It's all pretty hairy for now. But I am excited anyway ;-) And I wanted to share the MVP with you guys to see if the course we've chosen, after years of travels, might benefit you campers and vanlifers out there. For me this is a big switch from 20 years of freelance designer into building a project in a small remote & dedicated team. Let's see if there's value also for you.
