Hey everyone! šŸ‘‹ I'm super excited to share BrainDeck with you! šŸŽ‰ I originally built this app to help me learn Italian. I had all these workbook translations I wanted to turn into flashcards so I could practice and really drill them into my memory. After seeing how useful it was for me, I realized this could help anyone trying to revise or memorize content – so I made it subject agnostic! Whether you're prepping for exams, learning a language, or just trying to retain info better, BrainDeck has got you covered. šŸ“šāœØ What you can do with BrainDeck: šŸ“ Generate flashcards from your notes or workbooks using AI šŸ“š Access a pre-made library of flashcard decks šŸŽ® Enjoy gamified study sessions to keep you motivated šŸ“… Use the study session scheduler to stay on track If you give it a try, I’d love to hear what you think! Your App Store reviews mean a lot and help the app grow – so if you find BrainDeck helpful, please consider leaving a rating. It makes a world of difference. šŸ™šŸ’™ Thanks so much for your support! šŸš€

Congrats on the launch, Jack! BrainDeck is a brilliant tool! I wonder whether it can remind users to revise according to the forgetting curve. Good luck!

@jack_home_cook That's cool, AI really changes our lifestyle

Nice app! congrats! I have a question: How does the AI-powered flashcard generation work? Can you walk me through the process of converting notes or workbook content into flashcards, and how accurate is the AI in identifying key terms and concepts?
Jack Smith
@nancy_autonomous Hey! As a quick overview the algo is something like this: 1. Convert source material to plain text (eg use OCR to pull text from image) 2. Group/ summarise content into distinct chunks of information. 3. Generate flashcard for snippet - types include term and definition, question and answer and multiple choice. I can’t right now give you anything scientific about the accuracy. I’ve generally been iterating and supervising the testing myself and with help from my network. One of my next phases of development is to add some simple feedback mechanisms for the generation of materials so users can help to provide data that can be used to tune the process, model, etc. Hope that helps!
Kyrylo Silin
Hey Jack, How sophisticated is the AI in terms of generating accurate and relevant flashcards from complex notes? Do you have any plans to incorporate spaced repetition algorithms to optimize the review schedule? Congrats on the launch!
Jack Smith
@kyrylosilin hey, thanks! And sorry for the slow response, travelling in and out of internet zones atm. I’m working on the gen algorithm all the time, there’s a few steps - OCR, organising the notes into topics, generating individual flashcards, etc. its early days and some inputs work better than others, for example analysing text for translations, or technical terms and definitions are really strong, as well as summarising content into questions and answers. However the larger the body of content to be used as a seed the more chance there is for something being missed. I’m currently thinking about the best way to incorporate non-invasive feedback mechanisms to make it super easy for users to feedback on their outputs, and regenerate. This data will also help to inform how I iterate. Hope that answers your question!

šŸ’” Bright idea
This looks great Jack :) What are the limits of the app? I see that it offers in-app purchases. I always wonder why the limits aren't explained in the description, I think that matters a lot to people. Love the UI, it's really welcoming. Wish you all the best with this šŸ™Œ
Jack Smith
@owenfar sorry for the slow response - I’m currently travelling with low access to internet. Great point about IAP and limits, will add these to future descriptions on my launches, totally get what yours saying. For BrainDeck there’s a freemium version that limits study sessions to 3 per week (refreshing on Mondays), this is the only limit, so perfect for the casual language learner for example who wants to refresh vocab every few days. Thanks for the kind words about the UI - this was the first app I did UI/UX design for by myself so this makes me happy ā¤ļø

nice, I like the combo of the presets and being able to add your own documents or topics. Congrats on the launch! šŸš€
Jack Smith
@jonnymiles thanks so much, and sorry for the slow response - in and out of internet areas at the moment!!

Very effective way of studying, wish I had something like this when I started my education.
