From not knowing a line of code to being ranked #1 in 25 countries, over 50,000 users and over half a million habits tracked... it's been one hell of a ride. This 'launch' on ProductHunt has been a bit of a stressor, when is a product really done? For me personally.. never. I created the prototype for Better Habits using a filemaker database in 2014. I wanted to create something new, it was hard for me to believe that nothing I could find offered Living Progress™️. I said the hell with it, duct-tapped a prototype together and found it surprisingly motivating. I later taught myself how to code, spend about a year developing the app and released it as a paid app on the App Store. Mushing on, I learned how to market the app, listen to users and iterate solutions. I transformed the app into a free-premium model in July and it was a wild success. Most recently, I've added habit presets, a today widget, and a complete redesign of the guide. I currently have about 10-15 features lined up that have been requested by hundreds of users. So a launch?.. It feels weird. I'm not a launch kind of guy. I'm going to keep listening, keep building and keep 'launching' I suppose. Cheers!

This app earned a spot on my iPhone dock next to email and todos. I love how simple, attractive, and effective this app is—it took me awhile to get started in a habit, but once you are in it, it's hard to stop!

Pros:

Very effective, attractive design, regular updates

Cons:

Takes a little bit to get started (but reminders help!)

Love this app and use it everyday. I didn't think I was a person that could be motivated by an app, but with Better Habits I have found myself actually developing habits I want, keeping myself accountable, and enjoying (almost craving) going into the app to track my progress. It's easy to use and super efficient. New features are constantly being added and seem quick for the development world. The developer adds a personal touch by sending out emails from him and responds to feedback. I work in a helping field and recommend this app to my clients, as well as all my friends.

Pros:

Efficient, clean, holds me accountable, supported by science and empirical research, has video guides for how to use the app

Cons:

There's a lot to understand and get the hang of, but there are plenty of resources available within the app and on websites

This is the FIRST personal improvement app that I feel gives unbiased feedback. What you do determines the results. I have changed my habits, using the BETTER HABITS app, that for years, were repeated and unchanged. This is scientifically based and makes a huge difference. BETTER HABITS is a phenomenal app.

Pros:

BETTER HABITS is Scientifically based.

Instant accountability.

Easyto use, addictive, and very powerful. Habits can be changed!!!!!!

The intelligent progress bar that grows when you complete a task or shrinks intelligently when you don't is amazing. I've used other apps that restart your progress from zero when you make a mistake or forget to do your task for the day and it always makes me feel terrible and give up on the habit. This one doesn't do that and I stick with my habits because of it. This is a must buy for anyone trying to form habits.

Pros:

The progress tracking feature that doesn't simply restart your progress when you mess up but instead intelligently recalculates it.

Cons:

Only three habits at once unless you go Premium.

I love this app. It keeps the UI simple and straightforward to encourage motivation and tracking of habits. However, the backend is solid, and uses various tools to help fine-tune habit formation, maintenance, and tracking.

Pros:

Easy to use, keeps focused

Cons:

Can be confusing at first (tutorial helps a lot, though!)

This app is excellent. I've been using it for several months now and it's helped me stay on track with multiple habits. There are many habit apps out there (I've tried over a dozen) but this one is the most effective.
