Hello everyone! I'm excited to tell you about BearyStronk, a casual fitness app that I hope will make a small positive difference in your health as you build your dream products. Why I made this As life gets busier I've found it hard to have a consistent workout routine and so have gotten by just squeezing in scattered exercise daily e.g. push-ups or sit-ups. It seems to be a common pattern amongst friends and colleagues so I made this to help guide folks who might not have a structured workout routine but would still like to try and exercise daily. How will it help The app focuses on reducing procrastination stemming from not knowing what to do, by offering short format workouts which can be paused / resumed for pockets of free time throughout the day e.g. 12 push-ups now but continue workout later. Where more time can be committed, you can also plan a full week of custom workouts or take on a 1 - 4 week challenge. The goal is not to complete everything but to try and do something at least! What makes it unique BearyStronk prioritises the solo experience but has also support for proper group challenges so that you can some fun competing with your family, friends and colleagues. The app starts out light and casual with silly things like shareable certificates when you complete challenges but is also suitable for users with serious longer term goals with visible physical changes. You can create and store progress pictures where privacy is of top concern here - progress pictures taken with the app are not available for viewing in your default gallery app, are blurred by default to reduce oopsie situations and never leave your phone (exception - read public journals below). Progress pictures are: 1. Stored locally in your phone, not backed up to our servers by default 2. Can be stitched into side by side comparison pictures 3. Can be organised into albums for specific topic / body part organisation 4. Can be shared entirely as a fitness transformation journey as a mini blog page when marked explicitly to be public Check out the app store links for a full list of features such as workout mode, exercise logs etc. Thank you for reading I hope this small preview of what you can do with the app interests you and that you would take some time to try it out as I'd love to get some feedback to make it even better. Please let me know if there are any questions I can help with but otherwise take care of your health as you hustle to deliver :)
@bearystronk Hats off to the team! Wishing you a bright and successful journey ahead. What has been the biggest surprise during development?
klin
@kjosephabraham Thank you for your support! The greatest surprise has probably that the SQLite version on devices might not be the same for both iOS and Android so relying on certain features led to some issues discovered only during cross platform testing. But also the positive surprise has been that Flutter is really nice to work with especially when you don't really have advanced features needing deep native integrations :)
klin
@a_zelenkov Thank you for your support! I'll be looking at continuing to improve this so please try out the app when you can to see how it's evolved :)

@bearystronk Thank you for sharing BearyStronk! It's great to see an app designed to help people fit exercise into their busy schedules. I appreciate the focus on flexibility and privacy, especially with the progress pictures feature. I'm curious about how you find the balance between keeping the app light-hearted and casual while still providing the structure needed for users who might want more guidance in their fitness journey. Your insights could really help improve the app for everyone!
klin
@zephyrion Thanks for the question! At this moment I'm trying to keep the structure flexible so it can be easy to get started but also offer more suitable customisation for more advanced users. The lightheartedness probably helps more with the former so I tend to splash it more with introductions rather than deeper menus which hopefully helps keep that balance you mentioned. Truth be told I'm still watching how users are building habits using the app and then using that data to tune features / UI to make the app more useful, shall update if i find any key points that would be useful.

Excited to try BearyStronk, @klin! The flexibility of short workouts fits my life perfectly. The group challenges sound like a great way to stay motivated with friends. Any chance you’ll be adding nutrition tips or meal plans in the future to complement the fitness routines?
klin
@klin @renchu_song Thank you for the feedback! Nutrition is surely a big part of the overall health picture and can make a larger difference for progress pictures but I will aim to improve the exercise portion before moving on as I really want to do it well :) All the best for your upcoming launch!

How to help fitness users stick to it? I used some fitness software, with a sustained period of time, but if the middle missed, or delayed a few times, it is easy to stick to it

Hey klin, How does BearyStronk help users gradually increase their fitness level over time? Are there features to keep people motivated and engaged long-term? Congrats on the launch!
klin
@kyrylosilin Thanks for taking the time to ask these questions! At the moment it's up to the user to edit workouts and increase either the repetitions or add more exercises, but based on suggestions given I'm looking into adding a simple prompt for increasing the values mentioned above with one-click. Progress pictures were originally one of the long term features as it does require quite a bit of time to see significant progress but I have also been asked to include more social features like sharing of workouts, deeper interactions with others which might all help bring people back :) Did you have any particular suggestions or ideas you'd like to see?
Kate Prasniak
Looks fun! It would be great if it could integrate with social networks right away.
klin
@kate_prasniak Thanks for your feedback! I was a bit cautious in doing this immediately as it could raise concerns on the progress picture portion which is meant to be really private, but I'm really encouraged by your suggestion so I shall take a closer look at how to make that available selectively :)

It’s like trying to find time to cook a proper meal when takeout is so easy! With short workouts that can be done in between tasks, you’re making it so much easier to prioritize health without the overwhelm. Can’t wait to try it out and challenge some friends! 💪🐻
klin
@star_boat Thanks so much for your positive feedback and I hope you'll have fun with your friends! Let me know if I can make it any better and I'll be glad to explore those areas :)
