Hi ProductHunt šŸ‘‹ Today I'm launching BAQ, the federated app platform. I've always been a big fan of Email and the way it gives us the freedom to choose the server and client we want to use, while still allowing us to communicate with everyone transparently. BAQ is an attempt to bring the Email model to everything else we do online. From keeping private notes and photos in sync, texting family and friends, all the way to posting publicly for everyone to read, listen, and watch. Just like with Email, the data of BAQ apps lives on the user's server of choice. This provides advantages for end users: - Only one account needed to use any BAQ-compatible app. - Full control over where all data lives and what apps have access to it (self-hosting is possible!). - The ability to communicate with everyone else on BAQ, regardless of app and server. But also for developers: - Little to no server infrastructure to manage. - No lock-in to a proprietary API, backend service, or database. - A powerful SDK to manage authentication, data loading and sync, and offline mode. - The ability to re-use data created by other apps so that users don't start with a blank slate. Available today: šŸ“š The documentation. šŸ› ļø The SDK. šŸŽ“ A tutorial to create a simple app in minutes. ✨ Open source demo apps for inspiration: Files, Messages, and Bird. Let me know what you think! Reply here or hit me up on BAQ @quentez.baq.run šŸ’¬
