Design Milk published a great piece looking at how the QWSTION team came up with the minimalist backpack collection, excited to get my hands on one as I've been looking for a new, sustainable, backpack.

Don't mean this to sound rude, but how is using banana-based fabrics sustainable?
@room_n there is a lot of waste from harvesting bananas, including the banana leaves

@room_n that's a great question, and my answer, without knowing the statistics of the energy/water each bag takes and whether they kill the plants in product, is everything is relative. Unlike synthetic plastic, or even leather, banana plants are a "renewable" resource and thus more sustainable. Relative to recycled plastic or canvas, perhaps it's not. Would love to hear from the makers about if this is utilizing waste from banana fruit harvesting, as @adamjsorensen points out as well.
