As a solo, non-engineer maker, reviewing changes across Android, the web and four languages was difficult to do consistently. GPT-6 Astra in Codex made it practical to connect usability research to specific fixes, inspect the implementation, run checks, recover the intended Android UI and verify it on a real device. Astra also helped align the website with the actual product: an Android closed beta, an available Web Library and Android sync still in preparation. I could carry a coordinated improvement through implementation, testing and published explanations. Gemini and Claude in Antigravity also contributed to development.

Hi Product Hunt! I built Banana Keyboard because using good AI prompts on a phone meant repeatedly switching between notes and chat apps. Switch to the keyboard, choose a prompt card, insert it, and return to your regular keyboard. Bundled prompts, favorites and recents work locally. The keyboard does not read arbitrary text in other apps or press Send. The Android app is currently a closed beta. Apply through the website with the Google account you use for Play; installation requires a tester invitation. The separate Web Library is available now, while syncing saved web prompts to the Android keyboard is still in preparation. This product existed before the Astra Challenge. I used GPT-6 Astra in Codex to investigate usability, review implementation, recover and verify the intended Android UI, and align the website with what users can actually do. Gemini and Claude in Antigravity also contributed to development. I'd love feedback on prompt discovery and the keyboard-switching flow. Which prompts do you repeatedly copy on your phone?

Hi Product Hunt! I am Hiroki, the creator of Banana Keyboard.

Typing nuanced, multi-line prompts on a mobile screen is painful. I found myself hopping constantly between note apps and ChatGPT just to copy-paste the same role-setting prompts over and over.

So I built Banana Keyboard: a dedicated Android keyboard that lets you insert curated, structured prompts with a single tap. Because it is an input method (IME), you do not need to switch apps—it works seamlessly inside ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, or any app with a text box.

Privacy was my top concern. Banana Keyboard never reads or logs what you type in other apps, and it never hits send on its own—it strictly inserts text, so you always remain in full control. Your favorites and insertion history stay entirely on your device. Network access is strictly limited to fetching prompt library updates and verifying entitlements.

To be completely honest, my early beta had a frustrating usability flaw: after inserting a prompt, the keyboard stayed fully open, completely blocking the AI app's "Send" button! I fixed this recently by having the panel automatically collapse into a slim bar the instant you tap a card, so the send button is always immediately accessible.
