Hey Product Hunt! 👋 I built AutoSubtitles because I was frustrated with the state of "free" captioning tools. They promise free subtitles, then slap a giant watermark on your video, limit you to 30 seconds, or hit you with a paywall after one use. I wanted something genuinely free that I could actually use without jumping through hoops. No account creation, no credit card "just in case," no surprise limitations. Just upload, caption, and download. The biggest challenge is keeping it truly free while offering unlimited AI transcription. I'm still working on optimizing costs and finding the right balance to make this sustainable without charging users, but I'm committed to keeping it free. I'd love to hear your feedback! What features would make this more useful for you? Are there styling options or export settings you'd like to see?

@masump Thanks man! Yeah I'd rather just say it straight up, keeping AI transcription free at scale is tough but I'm figuring it out as I go

@davidee If you plan on keeping it truly free, definetly add some form of donations, I'm sure there would be people that would love to help you covers some costs without expecting anything in return

@nair0 I really appreciate your input! That's exactly where I think I'm gonna go with this, but who knows, right now the cost is negligible and I'm happy to cover it. But tbh, I might open source AutoSubtitles eventually or make it plug and play with various AI providers, like a bring your own key kind of thing which would reduce the costs to nothing for me

@chilarai Thanks for question! Officially just English - but that's only temporary - the long term plan is to support as many as I possibly can. However, I have seen German, French, Spanish and Italian working. On top of that I also plan to add support for translations and managing multiple language outputs for a video in the coming weeks.
