Thank you Swyx! Hi Product Hunt! Sanha here! I’m unbelievably excited to have the PH community try out Anecdote. Anecdote is a new kind of social media platform - one that’s focused on audio, but more importantly, a platform that doesn’t just pay lip service to real, authentic connection. I built Anecdote because I noticed we had a problem. More specifically, I saw all the challenges we are faced with - the pandemic, systemic racism, and many others - and saw something missing. We were missing stories. We were missing the first person accounts of everyday life in the midst of tragedy, we were missing the accounts of heroism and of heartbreak. Sure, there was the occasional viral post on Facebook from a nurse, or a feature in the NYTimes. And if you dug through Reddit, you may have found some nuggets there. But by and large, they don’t exist online. As a journalist, I’ve had the honor of listening to the lives of other people and writing about them. I know how powerful they can be and the change a simple narrative can stir. I’ve also seen first hand how difficult it can be to tell your story. It can be nerve wracking to put yourself out there, and if even if you build up the courage to do so, where do you start? I built Anecdote to change that. Anecdote solves two big problems - one, it lowers the barrier of entry to storytelling, and two, it gives people a place to be heard. We’ve made storytelling as easy as possible. You click a button, and you record. I believe that the human voice is the most natural and the most intimate way to tell a story. And when there’s no flashy video, you’re the centerpiece. If you don’t have anything to say, or have trouble focusing your ideas, you can answer one of our curated questions. We’ve also made discovery incredibly easy. We’re built around a single trending feed that contains the stories of everyone using the platform. And since the stories are only 3-minutes long, they’re great for a short break. We also have tags, searchability, and other categories to let you find the stories you want. I believe in the power of the voice, and I believe in the power of people. Found Anecdote through Summer of Shipping - thought the platform was incredibly clean and intuitive to use. I was surprised to see how authentic and intimate the stories were, and had a great time looking through them!

I've been using this product since it came out and it's amazing! It's so cool to be able to hear people talk about their own stories instead of reading about it. I love the personal feel of the app and it is super well-made. This platform is so unique in where I can hear myself reminisce about my own past. I love the app and can't wait for it to grow!

This app has a super innovative concept for a social media platform that actually puts emphasis on the connectivity part of social media that seems to be so shallow and forgotten about on other platforms. Definitely a ton of potential and excited to see where this goes!

So so so awesome! The focus on voice makes the platform seem so much more intimate and personal. Haven’t made a story yet but definitely planning to soon.

Honestly, I’ve been waiting for a social media platform that does intimate connection well and definitely see that with Anecdote! Have been lucky to follow Anecdote since it’s release and incredible to see how far it’s come.
