This is rapidly becoming one of my favorite books of all time. I LOVE HAMILTON!
PSA: Here's the link to the Hamilton soundtrack on Spotify (I would happily perform it a cappella for anyone interested because I have dedicated the past few weeks to reading this book and memorizing the lyrics to the album, but there is a high risk of ear bleeding because there is a slight chance that I'm a terrible singer.)
Mindblowingly incredible! Both the book and the character! Frank confession: the only reason I decided to read this book was because of the incredibly successful broadway play. I really wanted to watch that play but also wanted to make sure I understood the full context so took up the reading of this book. And absolutely floored by the character that is Alexander Hamilton - with all his incredible geniuses and deep flaws. What I found really fascinating about this book was it brought out Hamilton's flaws as clearly as it did his acts of genius (of which there were many). Very very well researched, and in addition to telling us about the first treasury secretary of America, it also educated me well in American history. A must read for anyone even remotely interested in trying to understand one of the greatest characters of all time, and someone who had such a pivotal role in shaping one of the most powerful economies of the world. And I'm sure I'll enjoy the musical even more now!
