Mobile automation CLI for AI agents like agent-browser

agent-mobile is a mobile automation CLI that lets AI agents control iOS simulators with a few simple commands. It assigns stable refs like @e1, @e2 to UI elements so tools like Claude Code, Cursor, and other AI coding assistants can reliably open apps, read the UI, tap, fill, swipe, and screenshot. Appium is bundled and auto-started, so you just install, run `agent-mobile open`, then `snapshot` to start building AI-driven iOS workflows.

I built agent-mobile because I kept feeling this huge gap: we have all these powerful AI agents, but almost no simple way for them to actually drive iOS simulators. Most existing tools are MCP-based and incredibly context heavy — great in theory, but clunky when you just want an agent to open an app, read the UI, and tap with confidence. I was really inspired by how elegant and minimal agent-browser by Vercel feels for the web. It proved that with the right abstraction, agents don’t need a giant protocol, just a clean, predictable surface. agent-mobile is my attempt to bring that same philosophy to iOS: a small CLI, stable refs like @e1/@e2, and text output that AI tools can parse and reason about. My hope is that it becomes a tiny but solid building block for the next wave of coding agents and autonomous devtools.
