"With AfterFocus, you can create DSLR-style background blurred photo by simply selecting focus area. Also, various filter effects offer you to create the most natural and realistic photo. Selecting a focus area more precisely, you can achieve more natural and professional image. Just mark the areas you want, AfterFocus automatically recognizes the focus area precisely even for an object with complex shapes. This auto function allows you to work faster on smart phones with small screen. Also, background blur effect of AfterFocus gives a photo the realistic look between the edge of the background and the focus area. With our realistic filter effects, you will enjoy photographing and photo editing even more, and share them on SNS easily."

@nikkielizdemere Have you tried the app? The examples are great. Looking forward to testing this out.

@eddiedaroza Not yet, but I will. I have 30+ photo apps on my iPhone / iPad and am slowly getting around to trying all of them.

@alimirza2k I'm not sure what their plans are for videos. :)

I see this one marked as available for iOS and Android but it only seems to be available for iOS. Or am I missing something?

I bought this app based on the screenshots @nikkielizdemere posted and I'm blown away. (1) The thing I miss most about my DSLR was the great depth of field I could get with a longer lens vs. my iPhone. This is a great compromise. The app feels like the missing piece in my iPhoneography toolkit. (2) The UI and process for selecting fore/background is very intuitive, and the engine the app uses to intelligently separate people from trees, etc. is very good. Honestly, it's easier to blur the background in this app than Photoshop. (3) I showed this to a couple friends who immediately bought the app. It's one of those "wow" demos, like Cycloramic back in the day.
