AdGuard for Safari is head and shoulders above competition in terms of ad blocking potential and available customization options. AdGuard brings back everything what was lost with the new Safari extensions SDK: popular filters subscriptions, custom user filters, manual element hider, and more.

After Apple’s latest policy changes, AdGuard had to develop an extension specifically for Mac App Store. And it has everything AdGuard is so good at: superb ad blocking, privacy protection, capabilities for filtering customization.

Pros:

It’s cool that Safari users can get AdGuard extension again

Cons:

Can’t see any

Hey @ay_meshkov can you elaborate about what are the advantage next to something like uBlock Origin?
Andrey Meshkov
@antoineplu there is no official uBO for Safari so I guess you mean this port: https://github.com/el1t/uBlock-S... Here are the problems with it: 1. Its abandoned; 2. It's built on the old extensions SDK, and in Safari 12 Apple has already partly disabled it; 3. They are going to completely disable the old SDK in 2019;

Greetings, hunters! It is always exciting to present a new product, and today I am happy to showcase the most recent addition to the AdGuard family: a Safari macOS extension! 📜 A bit of history If you are not a stranger to blocking ads, you probably know that Safari used to have a decent number of solid ad blocking extensions. That was true up until recently when Apple decided to deprecate all of them — only extensions from Mac AppStore are available to users starting from Safari 12 (and it is the default browser for Mojave OS). And app store extensions come nowhere near their predecessors — that is before we released AdGuard extension for Safari. 🏆 Back on top To be more precise, this is not a release but a re-release, as we managed to re-implement everything that users loved in the previous version of our Safari add-on. The only difference (except the fact that it is now available in Mac AppStore) is the new design. We believe it became better, but only you will have the final word on it :) As for the functionality, we firmly believe we made a product that has no analogs, not even close — at least for now. We would be happy to see more diversity among the ad blockers, but current analogs haven't yet adapted to the limitations imposed by Apple on extension developers. ⚙️ Key features Let's have a look at what exactly makes AdGuard the best ad blocker for Safari: - A long list of filters available by default. Filters are divided into intuitive categories (ad blocking, privacy, annoyances etc.), which allows you to customize filtering as you wish - Manual blocking tool. Hide absolutely any element on the page in a couple of clicks - Whitelist any websites you want to support or don't want to be filtered for any other reason - Faced any issue? Use a smart web reporting tool to report it — quick and simple 🙋 Hope you like AdGuard extension for Safari! Leave your comments and questions — we'll gladly answer them! Also, AdGuard for Safari is open source and available on Github. We welcome any contribution: https://github.com/AdguardTeam/A...
