FakeOut helps you check viral WhatsApp forwards, social media claims, and fake AI-generated photos in seconds. Just enter keywords or upload an image. FakeOut shows you verified fact-checks from trusted global sources. No tech skills needed!
I built FakeOut to help people cut through the noise in an era where misinformation spreads faster than truth. Whether it’s AI-generated images or viral WhatsApp forwards, it’s getting harder to know what’s real.
FakeOut is a lightweight app (and website) that lets you instantly:
- Fact-check claims using Google’s Fact Check API
- Detect AI-generated images
- Browse trending fake news by country
- Translate fact checks (Android only for now)
What makes FakeOut different is its focus on simplicity and speed. No signups, no clutter, just the facts, when you need them.
As someone who’s worked in online safety, AI and digital literacy for over a decade (currently at Google), this is a project I care deeply about. I’m especially proud that it’s already helping journalists, educators, and everyday users verify information quickly and responsibly.
