Today, I built a feature for creating lists.

A lot of the time, making a new product is really about taking something that already exists and figuring out how to make it better. That means you first have to copy what’s out there, try building it yourself, and then start thinking about how you can improve it. That’s exactly what I worked on today.

Lists are more complex than they seem. Apps like Notion and Jira handle all kinds of list functions, and to get those working, there are a bunch of little details to take care of.

For example, if you type a '-' at the start of a line, it should turn into a list. If you press Enter twice, it should exit the list. These are the kinds of basic things users expect.

It’d be great to find ways to make writing lists feel even smoother and more enjoyable.
