Mockbrain is an AI interviewer that acts human—pausing, waiting, and repeating questions when needed. It helps students practice for roles from marketing to tech, offering live coding and detailed feedback to build interview confidence.

👋 Hey Product Hunt!
We’re thrilled to introduce Mockbrain — an AI interviewer designed to make candidate interviews feel more natural and human.

Here’s what makes Mockbrain stand out:
🔹 Real-Time Interruption Handling
Candidates can interrupt anytime — Mockbrain listens and stops immediately, just like a real interviewer.
🔹 Adaptive Speech Timing
If someone says “I’m thinking” or asks for a moment, the bot waits patiently until they're ready to continue.
🔹 Context-Aware Questioning
Mockbrain can repeat or explain questions when asked, making interviews clearer and more supportive.
🔹 Live Coding Practice
Mockbrain offers live coding sessions, allowing candidates to practice technical interviews in real-time, enhancing their problem-solving skills.
🔹 Feedback Analysis
After each session, Mockbrain provides detailed feedback, helping candidates understand their strengths and areas for improvement.
🔹 Custom LLM Deployment
Unlike platforms that rely on OpenAI or Claude, we’ve trained and deployed our own custom Large Language Model — fully in-house. This gives us more control, data privacy, and better tuning for interview-specific use cases.
We're rolling out Mockbrain first for students and fresh graduates, providing them with a supportive environment to build confidence before stepping into real-world interviews.
Built with both candidate experience and interviewer efficiency in mind — we’d love to hear your thoughts and feedback! 🙌
Mockbrain is like it’s going to be a real game changer for students but how does it stack up when it comes to simulating behavioral interviews compared to technical ones?
Great question @matthew_flores1 :-) ,
Mockbrain is powered by our own custom-trained LLM, built specifically for interviews. It’s trained on a large set of synthetically generated interview data that includes a balanced mix of technical, problem-solving, and behavioral questions. So while it excels at simulating technical rounds, it also does a strong job at replicating realistic behavioral interviews.
A lot of students tend to overprepare for the usual AI tools how do you ensure that Mockbrain's responses stay varied enough to mimic the unpredictability of a real interviewer?
Thanks for bringing that up @jackson_wells — great question!
Mockbrain runs on a custom-trained AI purpose-built for interviews. Unlike tools that rely on OpenAI’s GPT or Anthropic’s Claude, we’ve developed our own proprietary model. It’s trained on a handpicked dataset that reflects real-world interview situations across various roles.
We don’t use hardcoded questions. Instead, the AI listens, adapts, and generates follow-up questions based on the candidate’s responses — just like a real interviewer would.
We’re actively learning from every interaction, and we’re committed to improving Mockbrain continuously as we grow. 🙌
What steps are you taking to ensure that the feedback aligns with industry standards?
What a fantastic concept. Does it offer a downloadable report or a summary of performance after each mock interview?
I tried this out with a computer science student I mentor. The experience felt pretty natural.
Congratulations on the launch! Wishing the team great success as this app reaches and helps more users. Looking forward to seeing it grow
