Hey Product Hunt community! 👋 My name is Gustav, and I'm an international student here in the US. I'm excited (and a bit nervous!) to share a tool I've been building called TrustCheck.dev. I was getting tired of misleading YouTube videos, especially those that waste 5-10 minutes of your time just setting up a hard push for an expensive course. It's frustrating. So, I created TrustCheck! It's a Chrome extension designed to help you instantly check the credibility and trustworthiness of a YouTube video before you commit to watching it. With one click, it analyzes the video and provides: - A Trust Score percentage - Potential Red Flags (like signs of manipulative language or excessive promotion) - Identified Strength Points that might indicate reliability. - etc It's definitely in its very early stages, and that's why your feedback is incredibly valuable. Please don't hesitate to be honest or truthful – all types of engagement help me figure out how to make this better! Two questions for you: - What kinds of YouTube videos (or creators) would you find this most useful for? - Are there other specific red flags you often see that you wish a tool like this could catch? You can get started with 3 free analyses to see how it works. Thank you so much for checking out TrustCheck and for any feedback you can offer! I'm really looking forward to hearing your thoughts.

Love the idea, Gustav!

Quick question — do you save the checked video results so that new users don’t have to wait for the same video to be analyzed again? Or does the system reanalyze videos because new comments might have been added in the meantime?

As a user, I’d personally prefer an additional subscription model: instead of analyzing videos myself before watching them, I'd love to simply see videos or channels in my feed or search results that have already been analyzed by others and resulted with a low trust score. That way, without having to take any action, I could automatically avoid wasting time on questionable videos.

Hey @begatim_berisha , thanks for the great question and the really thoughtful suggestion!

Regarding caching: Yes, the service absolutely caches results for recently analyzed videos. If a video has been checked within a certain period by anyone, subsequent users will get that stored result instantly. This helps keep things fast and efficient (and for the free tier, means it won't use one of your analysis credits if it's already cached!). We do periodically refresh the cache or re-analyze if significant time has passed.

You're actually the second person during this launch to suggest something similar to this 'archive' or 'pre-analyzed results' concept! It's clear there's a real interest in accessing these insights more automatically. While the current extension focuses on the on-demand analysis, making these insights more passively available is definitely something I'll be exploring seriously for future updates. It's a great direction to consider.

Thanks again for the fantastic feedback and sparking more thought on this!

Congrats on the launch, Gustav! Love this idea, especially in a world flooded with gurus, often times not offering any real value.
