YouTube Companion extension

Hi Product Hunt, I'm thrilled to share YouTube AI Companion with you today. This extension started as a hobby project inspired by my young nephew, who mentioned how an AI fact checker would help him identify which YouTube creators he could trust to learn from. Having been passionate about advanced uses of LLMs for some time, I wanted to create something that would make YouTube a more powerful learning and research tool while keeping it accessible. The extension is completely free to use with your own API key, which means you get powerful AI features without me as the developer incurring ongoing costs. YouTube AI Companion does more than just fact-checking - it provides key vocabulary definitions, content simplification, video outlines with timestamps, and Q&A functionality - all without disrupting your viewing experience. All processing happens locally, so your data stays private and secure. This is truly a hobby project built to enhance my personal social media platform - Youtube.
