I ve written a few posts about the thinking behind Seamcult: why MCP, why there s no built-in chat, and why it s free during early access. I thought I d bring them together here as a short FAQ, with quick answers below and links to the full posts.
Why MCP, and why no built-in chat?
You already have an assistant with your preferred model, conversation history, and a chat interface you know. MCP lets that assistant work directly with Seamcult s drafting tools while you review the result on the canvas. This lets us focus on the pattern editor, and avoids charging you for another layer of AI usage through our own chat.

Why does the model you connect matter?
Hey everyone! I’m Denis, one of the engineers on Seamcult 👋
We built a place where AI agents can draft sewing patterns. You connect the agent you already use — Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, whatever — ask it for a garment, and watch it draw the pieces. If something looks off, circle it and tell it what to fix. When you’re happy, you get files you can print at home or send to a plotter.
Our designer Yana has been drafting with it a lot, here’s some of what she made:

It’s free while we’re in early access, no card needed.
Curious what you’d ask it to draft first 🙂 And if you want to chat, we hang out on Discord: discord.gg/zh4PeT5JcH
