Hey Product Hunt community! 👋
I’m thrilled to introduce Mun — an ultra-lightweight, privacy-first desktop launcher that brings together the best
of an app launcher, a spatial window tiler, and a deep AI workspace into one unified hotkey.
+++ Why we built Mun
We loved tools like Raycast, Alfred, and Rectangle, but were constantly frustrated by:
1. Lack of true cross-platform parity (Linux and Windows users often get left behind).
2. Electron apps hogging hundreds of megabytes of RAM.
3. Cloud proxy lock-in that sends your sensitive prompts and tokens through middleman servers.
We built Mun from the ground up in Rust & Tauri to fix this:
• ⚡ Blazing Fast & Lightweight: Starts instantly with a tiny memory footprint (<30MB RAM) and zero Electron bloat.
• 🔒 100% Privacy & Zero Telemetry: Bring Your Own Key (BYOK) with direct client streaming to Anthropic, OpenAI, Gemini, Groq, DeepSeek, Bedrock, or completely offline via local Ollama. All keys and conversations are encrypted at rest locally (AES-256-GCM) — zero middleman servers.
• 🪟 Built-in Spatial Window Tiling: Snap windows into halves, quarters, or maximize across multiple monitors with
instant keyboard shortcuts — no extra window manager background daemons required.
• 🔍 Smart Desktop Search & Actions: Instant fuzzy search across your installed apps, browser bookmarks, calculator, and system settings.
• 🐧 🍏 🪟 True Cross-Platform: Identical experience on macOS (Developer ID signed & Notarized), Windows (officially certified on the Microsoft Store), and Linux.
Mun is free to use. We’d love to hear your thoughts, feedback, and what features you’d love to see next!
