DISKO is a media asset manager for people who shoot and cut video. On your own machine it watches every clip, reads every sign, transcribes every word and finds anyone you've named, then hands Premiere Pro or Resolve an organized project. $99 once. Card offloads are checksum-verified, every clip is described moment by moment, and speech is searchable in 50+ languages. An optional Assistant Editor builds a first assembly with your own AI key. Nothing uploads unless you send it.

Hi Product Hunt, I’m Dom. My college roommate Andy and I have been making documentaries and commercial work together for about twenty years, through our company Smith & Robinson (super original name, we know).
We’ve done science explainers for The New York Times, mini-docs for Scientific American, Arctic shoots around polar bears, and a few silly bike trips around the world. On every one of them, keeping track of the footage was a pain.
Lately we’ve been shooting a long documentary about sequoias, going back to the same forests year after year, and the footage got away from us. Finding a shot meant digging through Premiere bins forever, or realizing we’d forgotten a whole shoot existed. So we built DISKO for ourselves.
You put a card in and DISKO copies it off, checking every file, while the library fills in. Then it watches every clip start to finish and writes down what happens, transcribes the dialogue with who said what, and reads any signs and slates. Name someone once and it finds them everywhere in your library. After that you just search the way you’d describe it to a friend (“wide shot of the coast at sunset”, or a line someone said), jump straight to that moment, and send your selects to Premiere Pro or Resolve already organized. It all runs on your own machine.
We don’t think AI has anything meaningful to say about your story, and we don’t think it’ll ever be great at editing. That’s your job. DISKO won’t cut your film. It just gets all the paint on your palette so you can paint.
If you want a head start, there’s an optional Assistant Editor that builds a rough first assembly using your own Claude, ChatGPT or Gemini key. It sends transcripts and descriptions to the AI you pick, never your footage. Nothing uploads unless you send it. When you do want to share, DISKO Cloud handles review links and client portals (plus shot lists, scripts and invoices), and reviewers never pay.
We got tired of renting tools forever that change under us every update, so DISKO is $99 once, with a free 7-day trial. It runs on Apple Silicon Macs, and Windows is in beta. We haven’t spent a dollar on marketing, so this is our first real public outing. Tell us what breaks, what’s missing, and what you’d search for first.
