Hi Product Hunt, I am the maker of dasfone.
dasfone is built to be the cheapest way to call abroad: any phone number in the world, from your browser or from our iOS and Android apps, from $0.02/min, pay as you go, no subscription. And now every call can be translated live.
How translation works: dial a number, switch on "Translate this call", and pick the language you speak and the language they speak. Press call. You speak your language, they hear theirs, and the other way around, in real time. The person you call needs nothing: no app, no account, no link.
Why we built it: calling a restaurant, a landlord, a supplier or a clinic abroad is exactly where your phrasebook runs out. Video-call translators need both people on the same app. We wanted it to work with an ordinary phone number.
Details: 40+ languages, any pair. Translation is a small add-on to the call rate, and normal calls stay as cheap as ever. Use it in any browser with nothing to install, or in the iOS and Android apps with the same account and balance.
I would love your feedback. Which language pairs do you need, and what would make you trust it for an important call? I will be here all day answering questions.
Sounds sick, how's the latency?
