Hi, I'm Konstantin. I build Murmur on my own in Germany.
I wanted soundtracks for my own clips without a subscription, a licence to keep track of, or a Content ID claim waiting after I post. Murmur 2.2 adds Score mode: pick a photo or a video, optionally choose a feeling, and it composes music as long as your clip. You can preview it over the video, then save the video, share it or post it to Instagram.
Everything runs on the phone. No server, no account. After a one-time download (about 2 GB) it works in airplane mode. Under the hood: Orpheus, powered by Stability AI, is a diffusion model converted to Core ML that runs on the iPhone's GPU. Google's Magenta RealTime, ported from JAX, runs on the Neural Engine and powers Live mode and the Classic engine for older iPhones.
Honest limits: it only makes instrumentals (no vocals), the quality will not beat the big cloud services, and it needs iOS 26 or later. iPhone 15 Pro and newer get the full engine, older iPhones a lighter one. Automated matching systems can still occasionally flag AI audio; that is disputable with the platform.
Free to download with free tracks every day. Murmur Pro is a one-time purchase, not a subscription.
I'd really like to hear what works and what doesn't, especially which clips it scores badly.
