I'm Alexey Indeev, co-founder and CTO of Spare (sparelabs.com). I write The Leveraged Mind (read.aindeev.com) about building more with AI, whether you code or not. Agents can't reach the web apps you're signed in to without taking over your browser or screen. I wanted them to use those logins while I kept working. Chrome Relay lets Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and Paseo use your everyday Chrome from the command line through the open-source agent-browser CLI. It's a Chrome extension plus a small macOS service. Four reasons I made it: 1. Vendor-agnostic: use the agent you already use, without being tied to one AI company's extension. 2. Background: tabs open inactive in a collapsed "Agents" group. No focus switch; nothing moves on screen. 3. Independent: popups and "open in new tab" become the agent's own hidden tabs. Already-signed-in Google sign-in hops are clicked through automatically. It stops and asks only when a password, passkey or 2-step is needed. 4. Fast: about 0.15 seconds per command and 0.6 seconds to open a page, because Chrome is already open. Use it to check dashboards, pull reports, fill internal forms or review staging sites. Limits: macOS + Chrome, unpacked extension, and Chrome's "started debugging this browser" bar while agents work.
