Agent Bayes is a research assistant for academics. Add your PDFs or Zotero library and ask a question. The agent builds a mindmap of claims from your papers, each cited to a passage and page you can open in one click.

Hi all!
During my Near Eastern archaeology thesis, I developed Agent Bayes. It grew out of a set of tools for extracting data and synthesizing academic text into a fully featured and scalable product.
I've been a maker/builder for over 20 years, and I kept running into the same problem with AI tools. They wrote confidently and didn't hedge correctly. I guess this has plagued academic research in recent years. For any synthesis, I wanted to see a full reference to the page itself.
Agent Bayes works only with the papers you give it, and it lets you work on mindmaps. You can "map" out a question and dive deeper in any branch of it.
Video Tutorial:
Anyone already working with mindmaps will get the value proposition here. Mindmaps allow you to arrange your thinking and group information in a consistent way that allows gaps to surface. Once you nail down a good structure, the map "grows on its own". I believe this is the perfect format for academic research.
Additionally, the structure allows you to work and think hierarchically. So, for example, you can arrange your paper writing on the left side, with the outline as L1 nodes, while keeping the "raw" research on the right.
Each generated claim pass epistemic fidelity evals and is treated in a probabilistic way. Different positions are preserved, claims are hedged correctly, and facts are separated from interpretations. This allows you to test your own hypotheses and position your argument correctly within the literature. Mapping a debate or academic discussion is a simple task for Agent Bayes.
Notable features:
Add PDFs or sync your Zotero library. Papers in any language become searchable.
A research agent writes claims into a mind map, each cited to a passage and page.
Click a citation to read the passage, or open the PDF at that page.
When papers disagree, both positions stay on the map with their own sources.
AI Verify (paid plans) checks whether the cited passages support a claim and suggests a rewrite when they don't. Useful when you write your own claims.
When your library doesn't cover a question, the agent is built to tell you rather than stretch weak sources.
Pricing: The Free plan gives you 200 credits when you verify your email, enough to index your first papers and build a map. Paid plans start at $11 a month for the yearly plans (now 40% off during the launch!).
It's built for MA and PhD students, postdocs, and anyone whose name goes on the paper.
Last but not least, Agent Bayes has an MCP server so you can connect your harness and let it index and search papers for you, and use the agent bayes agent for synthesizing accurate academic texts. It is also integrated into an automated research skill available here: https://github.com/loudinthecloud/z4n4-automated-research-skills
Thanks. I'd love your feedback.
