On top of that, a call would go in looking perfectly fine and come back as some mysterious error, and I'd lose hours figuring out what went wrong. So I built Vigil for myself. One URL between my apps and the AI providers, logging every call: what it cost, how long it took, what failed and why. Then I made it optimise the spending automatically, without changing a single answer. It worked so well that I started sharing it with friends running their own agents.
