Notes with slides from any lecture playing in your browser

Share the tab a lecture plays in and NoteAlong writes timestamped notes, with the key slides placed where the professor talked about them. It also works with a YouTube link, your laptop mic in a lecture hall, or an audio or video file. Notes turn into flashcards and quizzes, you can ask them questions, and they come out in 20 languages. Export to Anki and Obsidian is free, Notion sync is in Pro. Free plan, no card.

Hi Product Hunt,
I built NoteAlong because of a simple, annoying problem: I'd watch a lecture and end up with nothing. Pausing every thirty seconds to type meant I wasn't following it. Not pausing meant I had no notes.
NoteAlong isn't another AI transcript app. Like the others, you can paste a YouTube link or upload a file. But it also takes notes on whatever is playing in your browser, including Udemy, Coursera, Panopto, Canvas and live webinars that have no transcript to fetch. And it doesn't only listen, it watches too: the slides, diagrams and code shown on screen go into your notes as images, right where the lecturer talked about them.
Here's what it does:
• Any lecture, any source: share a browser tab, paste a YouTube link, record a lecture in the room with your laptop mic, or upload an audio or video file (up to 4 hours; the file never leaves your computer).
• It watches the screen: while you share a tab, NoteAlong picks out the important slides and places each one in the note where it was discussed. If it misses one you want, press Snap.
• Notes you can trust: every section is timestamped, so you can check any line against what was said.
• Study from them: notes turn into flashcards and quizzes, and you can ask your notes a question.
• Take them anywhere: export to Anki (export again and the deck updates instead of duplicating) and Obsidian with our community plugin, both free. Pro adds Notion sync and PDF export.
• Notes in 20 languages: watch in English, study in Spanish or Portuguese.
• Organized for you: new notes suggest their folder, so a semester stays tidy.
Good to know: sharing a tab works in Chrome and Edge on a computer, there's no phone app yet, and slides come from a shared tab (a mic recording of a room has no slides).
The free plan is 120 minutes and 5 notes a month, no card. Pro is $12/month, but until October 31 there's a founding price of $8/month or $60/year, locked for as long as you stay.
What I'd really like to know: what do you watch or sit through that you wish you had notes from? That decides what I build next.
