Vigil Companion is the free iPhone app for Vigil for Mac, the menu-bar app that keeps your MacBook awake with the lid closed while Claude Code works, then puts it to sleep when the job is done. On your iPhone: what each Claude Code session is doing, in the Dynamic Island, on the Lock Screen and in widgets. A notification when Claude needs you or finishes. A button to let your Mac sleep. No account: it all travels through your own iCloud, and we keep nothing.

Hi Product Hunt 👋
Vigil launched here as a Mac app a few weeks ago and almost nobody saw it, so let me start there: the iPhone app only makes sense once you know what the Mac app does.
What Vigil for Mac does
Vigil keeps your MacBook awake with the lid closed while Claude Code (or Codex, a build, an export) is working, and puts it to sleep the moment the work is done.
🔒 Lid closed, still awake: one switch, a timer from 30 minutes to 4 hours, a keyboard shortcut, or Siri and Shortcuts. No external display, no terminal commands.
🤖 It knows when your agent is working: Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI, Copilot CLI, Kimi CLI, Qwen Code, Cursor Agent, OpenCode, Aider, Amp, Goose, Crush and Droid. With the Claude Code hooks the start and the finish are exact, and a job Claude leaves running in the background keeps the Mac awake too.
✨ A live island at the notch: what Claude Code is doing right now in plain words, opening by itself on every new step.
🧠 Claude Code tweaks: one switch runs every subagent (a code review, a research helper) on Opus, whatever model you picked for the chat, so you can work in Fable and still get Opus reviews. Another lets long commands run for 40 minutes instead of Claude Code's 10.
📦 Any app or job: pick apps or running processes, or "until one task ends" so Vigil lets go the second that job finishes. Sound playing, a download, or a busy Mac count as work too.
🎒 Safe in the bag: a battery floor you choose, a heat guard, "only when plugged in", and a real sleep the moment the hold ends.
📊 Usage meters for Claude Code and Codex, with an alert at the percentage you choose.
🗓 A weekly schedule, arm it when you lock the screen, keep the screen on for talks, hours left in the menu bar, chimes when the lid closes and before it sleeps, and it opens at login.
📜 Every hold on record: when, for whom, how long the lid was shut, and what the battery did.
🛡 One tiny helper, installed once with your password, that restores normal sleep by itself if Vigil ever quits. Native, notarized, Apple silicon and Intel, macOS 14 or later.
What's new today: Vigil Companion for iPhone, free
I kept closing the lid, walking away, and wondering: is Claude still working, or is it waiting for me to approve something? Now my phone tells me.
📍 Live in the Dynamic Island and on the Lock Screen: which session, what Claude is doing right now in its own words, and for how long. Your Mac starts it, keeps it fresh and ends it, even with the iPhone app closed.
🔔 A notification the moment Claude needs you (a permission, a question) or finishes, and when your Mac lets go or goes to sleep. You choose which.
😴 Let your Mac sleep from your phone with one tap.
📊 Home Screen widgets, "Show my Mac" in Siri and Shortcuts, and your hold history.
Private by design: no account. Everything travels from your Mac to your iPhone through your own iCloud, and we keep nothing.
Vigil Companion is free on the App Store. It needs Vigil for Mac (free 7-day trial, no account, no card).
