Hi Product Hunt 👋 I'm Hasitha, and I built Read PDF Out Loud because I wanted to listen to research papers, and existing text to speech apps kept reading me the wrong things: the copyright notice, eight email addresses, an arXiv stamp, citation numbers, and equations as a jumble of letters. Read PDF Out Loud reads the page the way you would: 📄 A layout AI looks at every page first. Two-column papers are read in order, and running headers, page numbers, footnotes, citation numbers and the reference list are left out. 🧮 Math is read by meaning. Attention(Q, K, V) = softmax(QKᵀ/√dₖ)V becomes “Attention of Q, K and V, equals softmax of the fraction Q times K transpose, over square root of d sub k, V.” 📊 Figures, charts, tables, code and equations can each get a short spoken summary. Switch on Summaries. ✨ Every word lights up as it's spoken, and you can click any word to start there. The original page sits beside the text, with the passage being read framed on it. 🎧 Four natural voices, any speed from 0.75× to 2×, a table of contents, and pages that turn by themselves. It works in your browser, on your phone too. It's free: sign in with Google or an email link and add up to 500 pages a month. Listening isn't limited. Most papers are ready in a minute or two.
