Hey everyone! 👋 I built ApiForge because I was tired of Postman getting heavier with every update — cloud sync I didn't ask for, login walls, and features buried behind paid tiers. All I wanted was a fast, local tool to test APIs. So I built one from scratch. Electron + React, everything stored locally in IndexedDB. No accounts, no telemetry, no cloud. Just open it and start working. The AI assistant came naturally — I was already using Claude while debugging APIs, so I wired it directly into the app. Now it sees your request, response, and variables in context. It can suggest fixes, generate code, or help you build requests from scratch. It's not a gimmick — it genuinely saves time. A few things I'm proud of: - 9-language code gen — get working snippets in Python, Go, JS, PHP, Ruby, C#, Java, and cURL instantly - Paste a cURL, get a full request — just paste into the URL bar - Collection + environment variables — with {{autocomplete}} everywhere - Pre/post scripts — for auth flows, chaining requests, assertions - Import your Postman collections — zero friction to switch The whole thing is open source.
