Fog 2.0 is out. A while back I posted about Fog — a notes app that organized everything for you. Auto-naming, auto-grouping, auto-everything. I built it because I'm bad at filing things. Turns out I didn't want an app that filed things for me. I wanted one that made filing easy. Those are different apps. So 2.0 is rebuilt around a different idea: Fog helps, you decide. Titles — Fog suggests one. Keep it, edit it, or ask for another. It never changes on its own again. Folders — you choose what belongs together. Fog names it and writes the summary. Siri — "jot down in Fog", "add to my dentist note", "move groceries to Errands". Your words, not mine. Every iPhone — no Apple Intelligence? Everything still works. You just name things yourself. Still SwiftUI + SwiftData, still Apple's on-device Foundation Models, still nothing leaving your device. The lesson I didn't expect: "automatic" and "helpful" aren't the same thing. V1 took the work away. V2 takes the friction away — and leaves the work to you, which is apparently what I wanted all along.
