Hi everyone, I'm Michele.
I built Giffit because every December I ended up in the same WhatsApp threads. What does she actually want. Who is already buying the headphones. Are we splitting the expensive one or not. Choosing was hard enough. Doing it without stepping on each other was worse.
So that is what Giffit does, and not only in December. Most of the year it runs on the calendar: birthdays, anniversaries, the party someone mentioned a month ago. It tells you three weeks before, while there is still time to get it right. Everyone keeps a wish list and decides who gets to see it. Open a friend's profile and you get ideas built around what that person likes, filtered by the occasion and by what you want to spend. Group gifts are a vote instead of a thread. When someone claims a gift the others see it is taken, while the person receiving it sees nothing at all.
It is free, there are no ads, and no money moves through the app. It only helps you decide and organise. I wrote it on my own, in Italy, and it ships in 18 languages because the first testers were scattered around Europe.
