Hi Product Hunt! I built Momito because I loved the hold-to-talk dictation workflow but not the idea of my voice going to someone's server, or paying monthly for it. Local models got good enough this year that the tradeoff disappeared: on an M-series Mac, transcription is near-instant and the accuracy surprised me. It's a small tool: a schnauzer in your menu bar, one hotkey, and a dashboard showing everything you've dictated (stored only on your Mac). Install is from source with two Terminal commands, because keeping it free mattered more to me than a fancy installer. The README walks through every step. Would love to hear what you'd want next. Custom hotkeys and sound tweaks are top of my list.
