I had no plan on building this for the world, and it started pretty selfishly. I used to think that 'what if I had something that would just help me make better decisions, help me think better'. Something like this would just change my damn life, and I will have an edge over everyone, lol. So I'm 19 and I've been a tech nerd. When I had this idea, I began making it instantly. The thing was, Chat GPT and Claude existed, but they're built for everything, which means they're not built for this. I wanted depth. I wanted to be challenged. So I built this, Socratic AI. When I finished the first version, I was genuinely happy with it. It had only one tone, horrible UI, well atleast from a consumer perspective. But only I was gonna use it, so it didn't matter. It had one tone- Ruthless and Blunt, which is pretty self explanatory, it tolerated no BS, and was straight to the point. I used it daily and thought I'd made something perfect. Soon I was in love with it. Some of my very close friends from university came to know and wanted to give it a try. The feedback was not what I really expected. One of them asked me why it was being mean to him. He felt like he was being interrogated. Well, his ideas were being interrogated. I was confused because to me that was the whole point but apparently that's not a universal feeling. Added two more tones for my friends- "Simple and Clear", and "Encouraging and Supportive". At this point my friends were telling me to release it publicly, so I took a couple months, slapped a decent UI, and here we are. So instead of giving it like a thinking assistant tag, I attached it with Philosophy (another thing I am obsessed about). But to be fair, I think this decision was great, as philosophy is thinking, and thinking is philosophy. This was my honest little tale.
