Garly is an evolving AI personal safety companion that learns your routines, supports preventive monitoring and helps connect you with trusted contacts when something does not feel right. A planned optional event-recording feature would save only short recordings after approved safety triggers, never continuously.
One thing that would make me feel more comfortable using this is if you added a dead man switch where the app automatically checks in with my trusted contacts after a certain period of inactivity on my phone.
@eatayurt72035 Great suggestion! Garly already includes a configurable Stillness Safety Check. When Protection Mode is active, you can choose how long Garly should wait without detecting meaningful movement or GPS displacement. Garly then asks if you’re okay and if you don’t respond, the SOS countdown starts automatically. The emergency message and your available location are sent to every trusted contact you have added, not just one. There is also a red manual SOS button that lets you immediately alert all your trusted contacts whenever needed, even without activating Protection Mode. We probably need to make these features more visible and clearly explain them as a dead man switch, thank you for the feedback, it means a lot!
The routines learning idea sounds useful, but can you add a simple manual panic button that does not rely on triggers or AI timing at all, just one tap to immediately alert a trusted contact and start a short recording. Sometimes you need that instant, no-debate option when things shift quickly.
@garyanderszt1e Absolutely, Garly already has a red manual SOS button that works independently from AI, sensors, triggers and Protection Mode. With one tap, it starts a short cancellable countdown and then alerts every trusted contact you have added, including your available location.
The short event recording is something we’re planning, but it isn’t active yet. Because recording involves sensitive data, we want it to be strictly optional, clearly visible and limited to a short emergency event, never continuous background recording. Your comment confirms that connecting it to the manual SOS would be very useful. Thank you!
the routine learning feels surprisingly tuned, not just generic alerts. kind of nice seeing it flag stuff that actually matches my usual patterns
