A local-first home inventory app for Android. Snap a photo of what you store, Smart Scan fills in the item's details for you, and later you just search in plain words to see the exact box or shelf it is in. No labeling system, no digging through every box. Everything you catalog stays on your device, and you can start without an account.
Love the local-first approach and the no-account start is a nice touch. One thing that would make this a keeper for me: let me add a "where it usually lives" hint per item so Smart Scan can suggest the box or shelf before I even search, saving a tap when I have a pile of similar things.
local-first is such a smart move for something like this. one thing that would really help me use it long term is bulk photo capture for packing or unpacking days, like rapid fire snapping several items at once and having smart scan queue them up in the background rather than waiting on each one before snapping the next. would make cataloging a whole closet way less tedious.
finally tried this and the smart scan nailed the details on a box of cables i just took a quick photo of, saved me typing it all out. local only feels great too.
A nice idea would be to add the option to back up the inventory to a personal cloud like Google Drive or Dropbox as an encrypted file. It keeps the local-first feel while giving peace of mind if the phone is lost or replaced.
Tried it on a few kitchen boxes and the smart scan picked up details I would have skipped, like brand and size. Search by plain words actually finds the right shelf fast, which is the part I always hoped an inventory app would get right.
Since this lives entirely on-device, adding a simple way to back up or export the catalog to a single file would give peace of mind in case a phone is lost or replaced.
