Give every visitor your website in their own language, for free. LATW Multilingual is a free WordPress plugin that adds unlimited languages, a clean switcher and native /en/ URLs, with the full SEO stack built in: hreflang, canonical tags and sitemaps. Instead of cloning every post per language, it keeps one original post and layers translations on top, so your database stays clean and your 100 PageSpeed score survives. Optional Pro adds AI translation using your own OpenAI key.
Hey Product Hunt. My goal with LATW Multilingual is simple: build the best free multilingual plugin for WordPress, one that lets your site speak every visitor's language without ever slowing it down.
Here is why that matters. Almost every multilingual plugin makes your site multilingual by quietly cloning each post for every language. Ten posts in five languages become fifty rows in your database. The site gets heavier, the database gets messy, and your PageSpeed drops, exactly the opposite of what you want when you are trying to reach more readers.
LATW is built the other way around. It uses an overlay architecture: your site keeps one original (canonical) post, and each translation is stored as a lightweight overlay on top of it. When a visitor opens the German version, LATW swaps in the German overlay at request time. One post, many languages, no duplication. The practical result is a clean database, a preserved 100 PageSpeed score, and an uninstall that removes everything with no leftover tables.
What you get for free is a genuinely complete multilingual site, not a locked trial: unlimited languages, a configurable language switcher, native URL routing (/en/, /de/), the full SEO stack (hreflang, canonical tags, XML sitemaps, correct html lang), plus translation of posts, media (titles, alt text, captions) and even theme and plugin strings through a built in .po/.mo editor, all inside the normal Gutenberg editor.
If you ever want to automate the work, there is an optional Pro version with AI translation, but it runs on a bring your own key model: you connect your own OpenAI key and pay the provider directly at cost, with no per word markup, and you can bulk translate an entire site in one run. The free core, though, is the heart of the project, and it stays free.
Would love your feedback, especially from anyone who has fought with WPML or Polylang before. Happy to answer any questions.

The "one original post" approach is clever for keeping things light, but a translation memory or glossary feature would be a great add so recurring brand terms and product names stay consistent across pages when AI kicks in.

the one-post approach is honestly such a relief, I was worried about database bloat with other plugins. Switcher looks clean too.
