Hey everyone π I'm Tudor. I built Pixara because I couldn't get along with Canva or any of the other design tools.
Every time I needed a poster or a few slides, I ended up fighting the tool. Canva lived in a browser tab and pushed me toward templates. The pro tools could do everything, but I'd spend more time learning them than actually designing. I just wanted a simple, native app where I could put shapes and text on a canvas and be done.
So I built one π οΈ Pixara runs natively on iPhone, iPad and Mac β same app, same files, synced through your own iCloud. Shapes, rich text, images, drawing, charts, tables, multi-page documents. Pages can morph into each other, so a document doubles as a presentation and can export to MP4 π¬
Along the way I added Ara, an AI assistant β¨ It's not a chatbot bolted on the side β it works directly on the canvas: adds and aligns elements, builds tables and charts from your data, can lay out a whole multi-page document by itself. Everything it does is a normal edit you can undo.
Some decisions I'd love pushback on:
β’ Fully native Swift/SwiftUI β no Electron, no web view. This is the whole reason the app exists π
β’ Free means free to create: every tool, unlimited projects. PRO only unlocks exports. No watermarks anywhere β putting my logo on your work felt wrong.
β’ There's a lifetime license because I don't like renting software either. AI is separate, on credits, because tokens cost real money and I'd rather be upfront about it.
β’ I'm not trying to compete with Figma. No components, no constraints, no prototyping. If you design professionally, you already have better tools. Pixara is for the rest of us.
Caveats, up front: Apple platforms only. The UI is English for now (Ara replies in your language). AI image generation costs credits.

Native on every Apple device is a smart move, and I love how the infinite canvas doesn't get in the way of the templates. Feels like it was actually built for the platform instead of just ported.
