QalamMR — the first spatial calligraphy workshop for Meta Quest 3 + Logitech MX Ink. • Learning Mode — trace inside 3D carved grooves with haptic feedback • Free Practice — pressure-sensitive ink, 3D gold relief, save & export • Flux Mode — calligraphy flows through space as a living ribbon • Gallery of Wisdom — explore masterworks inside a historic sanctuary Built solo in 33 days. AI wrote every line of code. Top 3 Finalist at Logitech DevStudio.

Hey Product Hunt! 👋
I'm Akif, the solo creator behind QalamMR.
This project started from a personal obsession with traditional Arabic calligraphy (hüsnü hat). If you've ever tried it, you know how tough the learning curve is—you need a specific reed pen (qalam), the exact angle, and years of muscle memory. I wanted to see if mixed reality could capture that exact, tactile feeling and make this ancient art accessible to anyone.
The 33-day sprint using AI to build the entire Unity backend was a wild ride, and taking it all the way to Logitech HQ still feels surreal. But the best part was testing it with the MX Ink stylus for the first time—feeling the vibration when you stray from the path, or watching the ink flow in 3D space through Flux Mode. It really made me realize we're just scratching the surface of what's possible in MR.
🎬 Curious how a solo dev shipped a production VR app in 33 days with zero hand-written code? Here's the full story:

I’d love to hear your thoughts, feedback, or any questions you have about the AI workflow. Let me know what you think!
The haptics in Learning Mode are weirdly satisfying, it actually feels like the pen drags through the carved groove. Flux Mode is a trip watching letters float past you like ribbon in a breeze.
@n_yalc26947 Thank you, Yalçın! Getting that haptic drag to feel genuinely physical—like a pen dropping into a carved wooden groove—took endless calibration, so I'm thrilled to hear it feels satisfying to you!
With Flux Mode, I really wanted to design a completely new art form—one where you don't just write, but actually let you breathe and appreciate the stroke geometry floating in 3D space. Really glad you enjoyed that 'ribbon' effect!
Congrats on the finalist spot, that is seriously impressive for 33 days solo. The Flux Mode sounds magical. One thing that would make me actually subscribe: a guided lesson path where master calligraphers record short lessons that play back in 3D space, so I can watch the stroke order from any angle before attempting it. Right now Free Practice feels a bit open ended for someone like me who does not know where to begin.
Built solo in 33 days is wild, you can really feel the focus in the haptics when tracing the grooves. Flux Mode is a standout, the ribbon flowing through space made me slow down and just watch it for a minute.
@tahayankul Thanks so much, Taha! Honestly, building this solo in 33 days meant many sleepless nights, but focusing heavily on those haptic details was absolutely worth it.
I actually captured the entire 33-day development journey in a quick 2-minute story video that shows exactly how the project evolved from day one. You can check out the full development process in my LinkedIn post here:

I love that Flux Mode made you slow down and just watch—spatial calligraphy has this meditative rhythm, and capturing that was one of my main goals. Appreciate the support!
The haptic feedback in learning mode actually surprised me — feeling the grooves guide the pen makes it so much more intuitive than just watching a video. Solid work for 33 days.
@wandawatsojsjb Thank you, Wanda! You nailed exactly why I wanted to build this. Watching a video guide of calligraphy is great, but my ultimate goal was to build muscle memory through tactile feedback.
I would really love for you to experience this with the MX Ink stylus. Actually feeling the pen hit the walls of the groove and hearing the physical collision sound is exactly how it guides your hand and locks in that muscle memory.
If you're curious about how those intense 33 days of development looked behind the scenes, I actually put together a quick 2-minute "how to build" story video here:

So glad you found the concept intuitive, and thanks for the solid support!
Learning Mode feels like cheating in the best way, the haptic groove guides your hand before you even know the stroke. Flux Mode caught me off guard, watching ink trail behind my pen mid-air is genuinely meditative.
@eslemgltanbs7 Thank you, Eslem! 'Cheating in the best way' is the perfect description. Creating that physical guide in a digital space was a fun engineering challenge.
With Flux Mode, the goal was to craft a meditative, entirely new art form where the ink feels alive. Really glad you enjoyed both experiences!
