I’ve always loved the idea of tarot, but every time I tried to read cards myself, I’d get confused — “Is this a good sign? Is this card positive or negative?” Most tarot apps didn’t help either. They felt like random number generators wearing a mystical costume — shuffle, deal, look up a card meaning from a table, display. No context, no continuity.
That’s the problem I wanted to solve. But as I started building, something clicked — the Western tarot tradition I loved felt incomplete without the rhythm I grew up with, the moon phases and seasonal markers from the Chinese lunar calendar. That’s when I realized: eastern lunar wisdom + western mysticism could be something deeper. Not just a reading app, but a daily ritual.
So I built Luna Tarot — readings grounded in the actual moon phase, a live almanac that tracks sunrise, sunset, moonrise, moonset, and illumination, plus personalized energy peaks based on your birth moon. Available in 8 languages, with meditation music built in. No account, completely free.
Just you, the cards, and the moon. 🌙

How does the birth moon feature actually work — do I need to know my exact birth time, or is the date enough to get a meaningful reading?

@elciogluna6892Maker here! Thanks for the great question — this is one of the details I spent a lot of time thinking about.
The "birth moon" feature calculates the phase of the moon on the day you were born — not your zodiac moon sign or a full astrological chart. The moon phase (new moon, full moon, first quarter, etc.) is the same globally on any given date, so it only depends on your birth date (year, month, day).
In contrast, a traditional birth chart (which calculates your rising sign, house placements, etc.) requires your exact time and location because it depends on your position on Earth at that specific moment. Luna Tarot doesn't do that — it's focused purely on the lunar phase, which is a global phenomenon.
So just enter your birth date, and you'll get a meaningful reading about how that specific moon phase might shape your energy, tendencies, and growth patterns.
Hope that clears it up! Let me know if you have any follow-up questions. 🙏
