The trick is we don't just "throw the photo at a model" scene by scene. From the one photo we first build a single stylized version of your kid, the hero reference, and then every scene is generated from that same reference. So the character stays locked instead of drifting into a different-looking kid halfway through the story.
On your specifics:
Glasses and distinct hairstyles actually help. They're strong, high-signal features, so they get baked into the reference and carry across scenes really consistently. It's the generic faces that are harder, not the memorable ones.
Best results come from a clear, front-facing photo where the face isn't tiny or half in shadow. Give it that and the likeness holds up scene to scene.
One honest caveat: it's a stylized cartoon, so the goal is "unmistakably them," not a photoreal clone. Grandparents-recognize-them level, not passport-photo level.
