How do the credits work for the video effects specifically, since those usually burn through compute way faster than still image filters?

Great question! Video effects do cost more than still image filters — we charge 1 credit per second of video, so a 10-second clip uses 10 credits. That's totally expected.
The reason is that video generation is a lot more compute-heavy than a single image — the AI has to process every frame, so the cost scales with length.
If you want to stretch your credits further, just go with a shorter clip — a 5-second video only costs 5 credits.
