Pelica Health: AI operating system for value based care teams

A confession: before this I’d never seen a fax machine in person. Months into building Pelica, I’d seen dozens. That’s how much of US healthcare still runs on them.

Catherine and I left Google to fix it (she led AI product; I was a tech lead at YouTube). The honest reason is smaller than that: my mom was diagnosed with diabetes, and we wanted to spend our days on the part of healthcare that’s actually about people.

The teams keeping whole populations healthy under value-based care are tiny (6–10 people for 100,000+ members) and drowning in 8–15 portals, file drops, and spreadsheets. So we built Pelica to do the work, not hand them another dashboard. AI agents and voice AI:

• Make the calls (in the member’s language) and work the payer portals

• Write the notes and follow up until the gap is actually closed, with a person stepping in only when one’s needed
