I am Siva Vimel Rajhen. I built DigitalOman.ai, and have been developing it non-stop for about a year and a half — it's still in active development every single week. And here's why I started it: Look closely at the AI boom and it's running on the same fuel as every bubble before it: debt, circular financing, and valuations betting on a future that has to arrive perfectly or the whole thing breaks. Companies are burning through billions faster than projected, buying nuclear plants and seriously pitching data centres in space just to keep the servers powered. Your data trains it. Your privacy pays for it. So the whole bill — energy, money, privacy, and one day a brutal price spike — is being quietly handed to ordinary people who never saw the upside. I didn't want to just write about that (I did write about it). I wanted to build the one path that doesn't depend on any of it breaking in our favour. DigitalOman.ai runs AI directly on your device. Offline. No account, no login, and the App Store privacy label literally reads "Data Not Collected." No internet? It still works, because the model lives on your phone, not on a server you're renting. Want the big cloud models? Bring your own API key (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Groq, Mistral, DeepSeek, Qwen) or even connect with your self hosted models locally or in cloud, and it talks straight to them — nothing passes through me, because there's no middle to pass through. It's free. No ads, no paywall, no token meter waiting to triple next year. And here's the part anyone who's actually run a local LLM will care about: the biggest reason on-device AI feels broken is memory. Small models forget the start of the conversation halfway through, choke as the chat grows, and slow to a crawl. So I built my own memory-management system, a custom conversation engine, and a custom caching layer underneath it all — so context is held intelligently instead of dumped, long chats stay coherent, and responses stay fast even on a phone. The thing people quietly give up on with local models is the exact thing I spent most of these 18 months solving. On top of the chat there's a shelf of mini-apps I call "InApps": an AI Academy (learn anything, upload your own notes, run mock interviews off your resume, conduct MCQ & Descriptive examinations), AI Search (Offline or Internet based AI Answer Engine, with web assistant), AI Gallery (Fetches AI generated images from the web, according to your search or preference), Game Hub (Generate games, using cloud models, and play), plus Mail Assistant, Notes AI, To-Do and Transcribe — all offline-capable, all private. It's live right now supporting iPhone, iPad, and Android devices. I'm not claiming I out-engineered trillion-dollar labs. I'm claiming the direction everyone's racing in is the wrong one — and the right one was always smaller, closer, and yours. That's what I've been building, by myself, for the last 18 months. Everyone's racing to make AI bigger. I think the entire direction is wrong — and I built the proof.

I've spent 18 months building DigitalOman.ai, and it started from watching the AI industry sprint, full speed, in what I'm convinced is the wrong direction.

Look at how this is actually being funded. The boom runs on the same fuel as every bubble before it debt, circular financing, valuations betting on a perfect future. Companies are burning billions faster than projected, buying up nuclear plants, and now seriously pitching orbital data centres just to keep the servers powered. Your "$20 a month" is subsidised by investors who fully intend to raise the price the moment you can't live without it. And the cheapest product these companies sell isn't the AI it's you. Your data trains it. Your privacy pays for it.

Everyone treats "bigger, further away, more centralised" as the only path. I think the right path was always the opposite: smaller, closer, and yours.
