Heartbeat is tackling a new surface here, and we wanted it to feel less like using software and more like influencing the thing itself.
The page should not wait behind controls. It should respond. It should reveal what you need at the exact moment you need it, then disappear again.
That was the work. Removing the distance between thought and change. Making the toolbar nearly invisible. Making the edit feel immediate. Making the interface feel less like an interface.
A lot of care went into the parts you hopefully don’t notice.
I’d love to know if it feels that way to you. I try to read every piece of design feedback.
I've handled Support for Heartbeat for a while now and I've lost count of how many times "can I get more control over my landing page?" came through the queue and the request board.
