There is a need to understand that millions of young people in Africa are learning skills that do not lead to jobs. They are stuck with certificates that do not prove ability, and they are unable to access real career opportunities. On the other side of the coin, employers are finding it difficult to hire verifiable, job-ready talent, which in turn makes hiring slow, expensive and uncertain, and to an extent, this leads to a disconnect between education and employment. We were able to deduce an insight from the data generated during our primary market research carried out across the six geopolitical zones in Nigeria with a sample size of 521 persons. We came to realise that the real problem is not access to learning. The real problem is a lack of verifiable job-ready skills, and for that singular reason, we are building and still refining Breeniq.
