Hey Product Hunt 👋
I’m Hossam Elshall, the Founder of FluentBoo.
So English is my second language, and I constantly read Articles, books, and posts about different topics, and every time I do, I encounter a new word that I have never seen before, so I end up doing one of 2 things:
1. I try to figure out the meaning of it from the context itself
2. I go to something like Google Translate or ChatGPT so I can translate it and understand what it means
I found myself 80% of the time I use the first method, the rest of the 20% i find myself never returning to whatever I was reading or doing, it could take me a full hour to get back to it
On Top of that, I never really learn this new word. One of the words I had really difficulty with for no reason was “Aesthetics.” I ALWAYS forget what it means, how to pronounce it, and even worse, after encountering it for 5 or 6 times, I still treat it as if it’s my very first time seeing it.
So I decided to build FluentBoo, an app where I can add words and get instant translation for them, and save them into a database so I can practice them later as well
I’ve built the app with 8 modes - 4 learn modes of (Flashcards - Story - Shadowing - Quote) and 4 test modes of (MCQ - Sentence builder - Matching - Typing Speed) to make it easier and more fun to learn new languages
Added an AI discussion that is aware of the word and the context of the word, so the user can understand it even better
Included the import feature so the user can import their words from (Kindle - Google Docs/sheets - Microsoft Word/Excel - Notion - Readwise - Anki Cards)
Added the ability to extract words from images using AI
The app currently supports 100+ languages
I started building FluentBoo for myself, but it slowly became something much bigger: a full vocabulary system for language learners who want to remember the words they actually care about.
I’d love your feedback:
What feature would you try first?
And what would make FluentBoo more useful for your own language learning?
Thank you for checking it out 🙏
