We built Calgary Cost Predictor because early-stage construction estimating is still surprisingly manual, slow, and inconsistent, especially when trying to evaluate feasibility before committing to a project. Most builders and developers rely on rough heuristics or fragmented quotes, which makes it hard to quickly understand if a project actually makes financial sense. The goal was to reduce that friction by using real Calgary permit data to train a model that can generate fast, grounded hard-cost estimates. What started as a simple manual input estimator evolved into a more complete workflow including blueprint PDF upload with automated extraction, structured spec-based estimating, and a Hot Zones Map to surface high-activity development areas. As we built, the focus shifted from just faster estimates to a broader decision tool for early-stage project screening. Right now it is free to try, and we are continuing to refine accuracy and expand beyond Calgary.
